Focus on Manda Brasa

Manda Brasa is a one man business making delicious Brazilian snacks and sweets. We recently introduced his treats as additional products to our baskets. It has been a success so far!

Let’s discover Bartos’ story…

Where I’m from

I’m from a place in Brazil where people deeply appreciate the culinary traditions of our ancestors. The recipes are passed down from grandparent to parent to child, preserving our culinary identity. My own mother is an amazing cook, and as a child I often watched with awe as she created her own recipes from scratch and made something delicious that brought everyone to the same table, smiling and leaving satisfied. One of my favorite recipes of hers is called Biscoito de polvilho, a very traditional Brazilian biscuit from my region. I often helped her in the kitchen while she prepared it, and watching our friends and family enjoy something we had created made me feel extremely satisfied with myself. I love the feeling that I can share my knowledge in a way that has a positive impact on people and fulfills an important role in society.

Why I wanted to sell Brazilian food in the Netherlands

After moving to the Netherlands, I felt a strong need to become part of Dutch society and felt that cooking was the best way I knew to do so. Brazil is known for its excellent culinary traditions, and I started to see cooking as a way to both stay true to my roots while also establishing a foundation in my new country.

What I hope to do with my business

To me, Manda Brasa is all about creating an experience. I love to bring Brazilians and international people together in one place with the same objective in mind. Whether it’s Brazilians coming to the table because they miss the food and comradery from their home country or internationals curious about discovering a new cuisine, the one common theme is celebrating where I’m from and creating a space for others to do the same. It’s amazing to watch people come together to try my snacks and connect with something, whether it’s their past, a new culture, or simply a delicious, local treat.
